Treatment Approach

I believe the most effective and efficient treatment starts with finding a therapist who is a good fit for your symptoms, goals, and needs in therapy. A good fit between therapist and client allows for a strong therapeutic relationship to develop and for the therapy space to feel safe, supportive, and effective while challenging you to face the roadblocks between you and the life you want to be living. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship allows for authenticity, vulnerability, and deeper exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and that these components foster personal growth, long term change, and recovery. The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of therapy and a crucial part of treatment success, particularly in complex cases.

In addition to the relationship I develop with each of my clients, I rely on my training, clinical experience, and expertise in treating mood, relational, and eating disorders to provide effective, research driven treatment in each therapy session. I often work with clients who are struggling with more than one problem area and use a transdiagnostic approach to treatment. This allows me to focus on you as an individual and build an action plan that addresses multiple problem areas simultaneously through combining evidence-based treatment, skills training, exposure therapy, and solution focused interventions.

The treatment modalities I use in individual session include:

I also provide trauma-specific treatment when working with survivors of assault, abuse, or traumatic events. In treating PTSD and other trauma-related stressors I most often use:

I understand the complexities of treating eating disorders and often rely on close collaboration with other treatment team members to ensure consistency in treatment approach and care. To further individualize and support patients struggling with eating disorders, Meal Support Therapy is offered on an as-needed basis as an adjunct to traditional individual therapy sessions.

Additionally, I offer supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and skills training to families who have a child or partner in treatment for eating or addiction-related disorders. My experience working in Residential and Partial Hospitalization treatment programs allows me to help families navigate the treatment process, understand their child or partner’s disorder, and implement changes within the family system to support their family member’s recovery.

For those who are unable to make it into the office, or prefer the convenience of telehealth, I offer individual therapy sessions online using a secure HIPPA compliant video therapy platform.
